Pamoja Fellowship

Sote Pamoja RDC, in partnership with JAMAA Grands Lacs, is pleased to announce the official launch of the Pamoja Fellowship, a unique program designed to support young and aspiring researchers from Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) wishing to engage in research on the themes of peace, justice, governance and conflict resolution in the Great Lakes region.

Why the Pamoja Fellowship?

The Great Lakes region faces persistent challenges: recurrent armed conflicts, political instability, transitional justice issues and institutional fragility. Yet this region also abounds in intellectuals, young thinkers and grassroots actors whose voices often remain invisible in academic debates or decision-making spheres.

The Pamoja Fellowship aims to change this dynamic by investing in local talent to produce research that is rooted in experience, rigorous in substance and useful for action.

What does the program offer?

The Pamoja Fellowship runs for three months, during which selected fellows will benefit from:

  • Methodological and practical training sessions (organized by Sote Pamoja RDC and JAMAA Grands Lacs);
  • Personalized coaching by experienced mentors;
  • Editorial support and writing coaching;
  • Publication opportunities in various formats (analysis notes, blog articles, podcasts, etc.).

Each Fellow is expected to produce at least two analysis notes over the course of the program. The most accomplished work will be promoted through regional or academic publications.

Profile required

The program is open to young researchers:

  • Aged between 24 and 35;
  • Of Burundian or Congolese (DRC) nationality;
  • Hold at least one university degree in a relevant field (political science, international relations, law, sociology, etc.);
  • Have an excellent command of written and spoken French (knowledge of English is an asset);
  • Publication opportunities in various formats (analysis notes, blog articles, podcasts, etc.).
  • Demonstrate a proven commitment to research, critical analysis and collaborative work.
