The JAMAA Grands Lacs Université Citoyenne in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is an annual training program designed to strengthen the leadership of young leaders from various sectors of civil society: associations, media, universities, churches and other agents of change. The program offers a unique space for exchange and learning, focusing on the crucial themes of participatory democracy, civic engagement, responsible leadership and good governance.
The main objective of this program is to train leaders capable of promoting inclusive, transparent and accountable governance, while strengthening citizen participation in decision-making processes. Through weekly training sessions, practical workshops and meetings with decision-makers and experts, participants acquire the essential skills to understand and embody the values of democracy and accountability in their day-to-day commitment.
In addition to training, the Université Citoyenne becomes a genuine space for collaboration and work on the active participation of citizens, the transparency of decision-making processes, and the accountability of political and administrative leaders. It is thus a strategic venue for fostering direct interaction between civil society and the authorities, and encouraging the establishment of mechanisms for control and dialogue.
By training the leaders of tomorrow, the JAMAA Grands Lacs Université Citoyenne aims to positively transform the political and social landscape of the DRC, by creating a dynamic network of committed young people, aware of their role in building a fairer, more transparent and more democratic society.
