At JAMAA Grands Lacs, we believe that building sustainable peace requires the integration of environmental protection and the empowerment of vulnerable communities, particularly young people and women. In the troubled areas of eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, where environmental challenges and conflict are omnipresent, our Amani na Mazingira program offers innovative solutions to address these crucial issues simultaneously.

A Program Focused on Women and Youth

We place young people and women at the heart of our action, recognizing their fundamental role in transforming communities and building a peaceful future. The program offers practical training to young girls and women displaced by war, enabling them to acquire skills in sustainable, environmentally-friendly economic sectors.
One of our flagship initiatives is training in the production of eco-friendly charcoal, a sustainable alternative to traditional production. As well as generating direct income, this activity helps to preserve forest resources and reduce deforestation in conflict-affected areas.

Environmental Awareness and Education
We organize workshops and educational sessions to raise awareness of environmental preservation, with an emphasis on the sustainable management of natural resources. These initiatives aim to strengthen community resilience in the face of environmental challenges, and to integrate sustainability principles into everyday practices.
