JAMAA Grands Lacs' Mediation for Peace Program actively works to open up spaces for mediation and negotiation to promote peaceful solutions to local conflicts. Its main objective is to foster reconciliation, non-violent resolution and constructive conflict management, by setting up mechanisms for inclusive and constructive dialogue between all stakeholders.
The program places young people and women at the heart of its action, by
training and involving them as local community mediators. These mediators play
a key role in conflict prevention, building bridges between different
communities and facilitating peaceful conversations. They are key players in
establishing a lasting culture of peace within communities.
Through specialized training courses, JAMAA Grands Lacs supports local
peacemakers in conflict management, by strengthening their mediation and
negotiation skills. The organization has set up “peace huts” in several
territories in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. These spaces offer
concrete opportunities for dialogue, idea-sharing and dispute resolution,
enabling communities to engage in peace processes.
JAMAA Grands Lacs' Mediation for Peace Program is an essential lever for creating
communities where each individual can actively participate in building a
peaceful future.
